For a transfer from an online seller you normally want a Type 01 dealer or a Type 02 pawnbroker. Many Type 07 manufacturers also take transfers. What the licence types mean.
Getting a firearm transferred in Illinois
When you buy a firearm online or from another state, the seller ships it to a licensed dealer, not to you. You pick the dealer, the dealer receives the firearm, and you complete ATF Form 4473 and a background check in person before taking it home. Dealers set their own transfer fees and policies, so call first to confirm they will accept the shipment. Illinois may add its own rules on top of federal law, such as waiting periods, permits or restrictions on certain firearms; your dealer will know what applies.
